Halloween is all about the silliness and spookiness … and, of course,  the sticky, sugary sumptuousness of all those delicious halloween treats, but, hold up! One of the most frightful things about Halloween is the calorie and sugar content of the sweet treats… See what we did there?

For those trying to stay fit and healthy, it can be too good an excuse to fall off the wagon. One pot of candy corn and a chewy chocolate bar can turn into buckets and buckets of gummies, sherbets, liquorice, sours, and licking the sugar out of the empty packets! But, relax, here in the PROMiXX kitchen, we’ve got your back.

You don’t need to choose between sugary indulgence or skipping Halloween all together to stay healthy.

Check out two of our Healthy Halloween Treat Recipes and you’ll be fiendishly full and harrowingly healthy, mwa ha ha haaaaaaa.

Protein Pumpkin Balls

This recipe is so easy, it’s scary. A great little treat that you could even hand out to the trick or treaters… they will either find them so delicious that they don't realise they’re healthy, or the little urchins will cotton on to your ploy to feed them something nutritious and they won't knock your door again next year, so it’s win win, really.

For this radical recipe, all you’ll need is:

1 Scoop Vanilla Protein

5 Tbsp of Natural Almond Butter

2 Tbsp of Pureed Pumpkin

2 Tbsp of Runny Honey

2 Small Cups of Oats

1 Tsp of Ground Cinnamon

A Handful of Natural Dark Chocolate Chips

A Few Twiglets or Broken Pretzels

Method of Madness:

Mix the almond butter, honey, pumpkin, oats and cinnamon in a bowl.

Add the vanilla protein powder and mix until completely combined. You might want to use your hands.

Roll the mixture into approximately 20 golf ball size pieces.

Use the chocolate chips to make spooky Jack-o-Lantern faces and use the Twiglets or broken pretzel pieces as pumpkin stalks.

Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, but for best results, leave them overnight to chill.

Pumpkin Spice Protein Shake

If your favourite time of year is when Starbucks release their World-Renowned Pumpkin Spiced Latte, then you will love this wonderfully weird and ghoulishly gluttonous Halloween protein shake recipe from the PROMiXX Kitchen. It’s a slightly different, but delicious change to your normal day to day shake. We’re talking vanilla protein and pumpkin spice PROMiXX’ed up into a shake which tastes like Autumn in a cup!

WARNING: if you do not like pumpkin spice flavouring then 1. This probably is not for you, and 2. You need to take a moment and think about your lack of Halloween spirit.

Ingredients:

350ml of Almond Milk

1 Scoop of Vanilla Protein

4 Tbsp of Pumpkin Puree

½ Tsp of Ground Cinnamon

¼ Tsp of Ground Ginger

¼ Tsp of Ground Nutmeg

1 Tsp of Honey

1 Mashed Banana

Method of Madness:

Add almond milk to your PROMiXX and activate the Vicious Vortex.

Tip a scoop of vanilla protein into the spinning vortex and add honey.

Mash a banana, with your bare hands, like a madman/woman! Add to the spinning madness of the PROMiXX.

Add the spookiest of all the ingredients, the pumpkin puree along with the scary spices.

Continue to whiz up for a few more seconds and, Voila! Pumpkin Spiced Protein Shake!

There you have it, Happy Health Halloween!
